Jomo Silveira was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He graduated as Professional Dancer, Choreographer & Art Director from UFRJ Dance University in Rio de Janeiro in 2002.
He has given dance workshops in Brazil, USA, Russia, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Holland, Greece, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Portugal. Because of his work in different countries, Jomo therefore speaks many languages fluently and has a high cultural and pedagogical understanding, which comes to show in his way of teaching.
In 2004, Jomo moved to Denmark to give dance workshops and got a contract with two respectable dance institutes; "Danseværket" and "Dansenshus. After many successful projects with children and young people, he got hired by institutes and schools of dance and music in Scandinavia. In 2006, Jomo’s work as a Choreographer and Artist got approved by the Arts Council of Scandinavia. Furthermore, he also did several independent jobs, such as guest choreographer on the television show "So You Think You Can Dance” and for the musical “Cabaret” in Århus.
At a higher level, Jomo worked as a Dancer and Choreographer for Usher, Madonna, Britney Spears and Busta Rhymes in the period between 1997 and 2005. Recently he worked as Artistic Director for dance projects, supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and as a Teacher and Choreographer of The Danish Royal Theater Ballet School in Odense. In fall 2011, Jomo moved back to Rio de Janeiro to participate and organize “7’th International Meeting of Samba & Carnival”. He also did choreographies for G.R.E.S Renascer Samba School, for the famous Rio’s Carnival parade of 2012 and helped planing the opening’s ceremony for the FIFA’S World Cup, which will take place in Brazil in 2014.
